PROPOSED PRESENTATION TO MR RENALL.
PRELIMINARY MEETING
A meeting was held in the Borough 1 Council Chambers, last everiing, for the purpose of making arrangements fof a presentation to the retiring Mayof (Mr- 5, A. Renall) on the i occasion of hk leaving this district to take up his residence in the Auckland district. "Mr E. McEwen occupied the chair, and there were also present:— j Messrs J. C. Ewington, J. B. Keith, IR. Brown, E. G. Eton, D. Criselberg and W. M. Easthope. Apol©-* gies for absence were received from 1 " Messrs A. W. Hogg, M.H.R., and 1 J. Prentice. It was decided, on the motion of Mr Caselberg, seconded by Mr Brown that those present form themselves into a committee, with power to add to their number, to make all necessary arrangements for a suitable farewell to Mr Renall. Mr Easthope was engaged to canvass for subscriptions, and Mr Brown was appointed treasurer. It was decided that the presentation take the form of an illuminated address, and Messrs Keith, McEwen and Brown were appointed a committee to frame the address. It was suggested that the presentation should take place on Wednesday evening next, at the same time as the installation of the new Mayor (Mr Coradine). The Committee decided to meet next Monday afternoon, at 4.30 o'clock, when Messrs Easthope and Brown will make their reports. I was resolved that all local bodies with which Mr Renall was connected should be invited to send representatives to the meeting on Monday next.
