The authorities of the Woolwich arsenal are taking a ballo 4 : of all workmen employed regarding the proposal to close the shops on Saturdays. It 'is hoped, by working five days a week, to reduce the number of discharges by one-half at an average loss of 3s 6d per man. The majority of the Royal Laboratory employees approve of the proposal. The ballots at other workshops are proceeding.
