THE WRECK OF THE BERLIN. Received April 24, 11.23 p.m. LONDON, April 24. The findings of the Board of Trade enquiry into the loss of the steamer Berlin are to the effect that the disaster was due to the master's error of'judgment on entering the new waterway in the weather .conditions prevailing and not making sufficient allowance for wind and sea.
ATTEMPTED ASSASSINATION. Received April 24, 10.42 a.m. BRISBANE, April 24. The Commercial Agent in the East reports that an attempt was recently made to assassinate the Japanese Minister [for War (LieutenantGeneral Masatake Terauchi) by a member of a Korean secret society, which is pledged to kill the „high Japanese officials. The man fired four ineffective shots.

Williams and Patrick Smith, distillers, at the instance of the inland revenue authorities owing to the failure of defendants to issue permits correctly with parcels of spirits.
