MASTERTON MUNICIPAL ELECTIONS.

INFORMATION FOR VOTERS.

I The election of the Mayor and Councillors for the Borough of Masterton will take place to-day. There are two candidates for the Mayoralty and eleven for the Council, The candidates for the Mayoralty are Mesrss J. M. Coradine and Edward McEwen. Those who are contesting Council seats are • Messrs J. Elliott, J. C. Ewington,' A. Haughey, W. Morris, J. H. Pauling, W. Pragnell, J. P. Prentice, J. Smith, F. W. Temple, E. G. Williams, and J. Yarr. The instructions with regard to voting are marked distinctly on the ballot papers. Electors are required to place a cross in the space on the right hand side of the name of the candidate or candidates for whom they wish to vote, leaving a blank space opposite the names of those for whom they do not wish to vote. In the case of the Mayoral election only one cross is required, but in the election for the Councillors the electprs will require to place crosses opposite the names of any number of candidates up to nine, but not more. Any variation from these insi'uctions will render the votes informal. Simultaneously with the elections for the Mayor and Councillors a poll will be taken on the proposal to bring the Borough of Masterton under the provisions of the Fire Brigades Act. The ballot papers in this instance are marked:—"For.the Proposal" and "Against the Proposal." If a ratepayer—only ratepayers can vote on the proposal—desires to vote for the proposal, it will be necessary to put a cross in the space on the righthand side of the words "For the Proposal," or vice versa. The polling booths are situated at the Drill Ha 11, Central Fire Brigade Station and the Kuripuni Fira Brigade Station. The hours of polling are between 9 a.m. and 7 p.m.
