The unaccountable delay in holding the annual meeting of the Wairarapa Rugby Union is exercising the minds of members in South Wairarapa, says the Carterton News. In other places cup fixtures are in actual progress, whilst Wairarapa is lagging behind, ■ and this district will be badly handicapped in contests with outside Unions when the season is half through. The Red Star Football Club played a match against Carterton, at Carterton, on Saturday. The game was an interesting one, and the players showed fairly good form considering that it was the first match of the seasun. The game resulted in a draw, each team scoring a try. Wrigley scored the try for the Stars after a brilliant run. Wrigley, Darvill and Dorsett played well in the'back division for Red Star, while the forwards all played well, Wickens, Riley, Langley and Scorrar being perhaps the best. Killop played well among ■the Carterton backs, and H. McKenzie and Henderson were the pick of the forwards. Christchurch footballers were again favoured with a fine day for this afternoon's matches, and the weather was more favourable for the game than on the previous Saturday.
