WELLINGTON RACES. (Special Reporter.) WELLINGTON, April 20. The weather was beautiful at Tren;tham, to-day, for the second day of the Wellington Racing Club's autumn meeting. There was a large attendance, including a number of visitors from Wairarapa. During the*day the. sum of £17,862 was put through the machine, making £30,684 for the meeting. This is an increase of £4,828 on last year. The double machine on the Autumn and Suburban Handicaps paid a dividend of £l7 6s. The results were as follow : Second Hurdle Race, 1& mile.—Mr R Weller'sblg Pawa, by Mahaki Basilisk 10.8, 1; Mr Taggart's bg Leeside, 1.1.2, 2; Mr Stewart's bg Assaycr, 10.12. 3. Also started--Levant 9.13, Sen Sim 9.11, Rangitoto 9.4. Turning into the straight Pawa had three lengths advantage. Leeside came with a good run, but could not catch the leader, who won by two lengths. Time, 2min 50 2-5 sec. Dividends, £2 and £1 Bs. Hutt Handicap, 1 mile.—Mr A. L. D. Fraser's br f Kurawaka, by San Fran-Maude, 7.2, 1; Mr F. Tilley's b h The Lark, 8.0.. 2; Mr Knox's b g Royal Blue, 7.13, 3. Also started— Aeolus 9.0, Wirral 8.2, Seaman 7.10, Scotch Reel 7.8. Kurawaka led into the straight, where The Lark made an unsuccessful effort to catch the leader. Kurawaka won by two lengths. Time, lmin 45 l-ssec. Divi dends, £4 19s and 13s. Muritai Hack Handicap, 7 furlongs.—Mr G. Cork's b g Moloch, by Mauser-Listener; 7.12, 1; Mr Gaisford'sbl c Swimming Belt, 7.13, 2; Mr Knox.'s b m Merrie Rose, 8.11, 3. Also started Armamento 8.8, Mataari 8.0, Truthful 7.13, Compass 7.(5, Gold Guard 36.10. Moloch won bv a neck, with Merrie Rose two lengths away. Time, lmin 32 4-ssec. Dividends, £5 and 14s. AUTUMN HANDICAP, of3oosovs; 1J mile. Hon. J. Ormond's Sir Tristam, 7.9 1 Mr Hunter's Mystification, 8.0 ... 2 Mr Moore's Helen Portland, 7.12 3 Mr J. H. Prosser's Marguerite, 9.0 0 Mr McManaway's Mahuta, 7.13... 0 MrF. Tilley's St. Joe, 7.11 ... 0 Sir G. Clifford's Clanchattan, 7.3 0 Mr Speedy's Naptha, 6.7 ... 0 Helen Portland and Marguerite led for several furlongs. Then Sir Tristram and Mystification closed up with the leaders. Helen Portland entered the straight first, but about 200 yards from the winning post Sir Tristram made a splendid run and won by three lengths. Time. 2min 12sec. Dividends, £3 12s and £2 ss. Suburban Handicap, 7 furlongs.— Sir G. Clifford's Lady Annie, 8.8, 1; Mr J. McLaughlin's Contender, 7.13, 2; Hon. J. Ormond's Medallist, 7.12, 3. All started. Lady won a good race by a length and a half. Time, lmin 31 2-ssec. Dividends, £4 and £4 19s. Pacific Handiap, 6 furlongs.—Sir G. Clifford's De Witte, 8.11, 1; Mr Monk's William, 8.2, 2; Mr Armstrong's Chicane, 8.2, 3. Gold Crest (9.3) and Oxton (b.I2)J also started. Won by a neck. , Time, lmin 18sec. Dividend, £2 19s. St. Leger Stakes, If mile, w.f.a. —Mr J. Goodwin's Volume, 8.4, 1; MrT. Crosse's Grand Slam, 8.4, 2.; Mr G. G. Stead's Seal Rock, 8.4, 3. Volume w,on by a length. SealRock, who was favourite, was a length away third. Time, 3min 22 2-ssec. Dividend, £3 ss. Belmont Hack Handicap, 6 furlongs.—Mrs Rogers' Clem, 6.13,11; Mr Gaisford's Gauze, 7.13, 2; Mr Liskirk's Hiro, 7.8, 3. Also started —Hon. J. Ormond's Erl King 9.3, Mr Knox's Merrie Rose 8.12, Mr Smart's Kaiuku, 8.5, Mr Martin's Moata 7.8, Mr Whitney's Saga 7.0. Clem won easily. Time, lmin 17 3-ssec. Dividend's, £4 7s and £1 17s. , The chief stake winners at the meeting were:—Sir G. Clifford, £730; Hon. J. D. Ormond, £450; Mr G. F. Moore, £360; Mr T. Goodwin, £335.
