THE BUDGET. STRONG CRITICISM. LONDON, April 19. The Budget is in,many circles interpreted as an .astute .bid for.middleclass support. The Labour members are disappointed with the .postponement of old age pensions. They intend to mov3 an amendments the.subject. Mr Keir-Hardie* Leader of the Parliamentary Labour Party, interviewed, described the Chancellor's effort as "a brutal Budget." The Daily News says that the Budget is one of expectations. The Daily Telegraph declares the Budget to be a further step towards the penalisation of capital, and a forerunner of Socialistic Budgets. It is .estimated that 913,000 people will benefit by the reduction in the tax on landed incomes.
