Wednesday, April 17. The settlers are beginning to think "<that the roads are to be left to the of the rivers. It would only ■rake a man about four days to throw i back the fine metal, fill up a few ■holes, and fix the approaches to the bridges. No doubt, if the roadman's time is otherwise occupied labour could be obtained locally for this work. The weather being anything but pleasant yesterday, the school picnic was held in the Public Hall, where the children received prizes and spent an enjoyable day. The property owned by Mr G. H. Clarke, and leased by Mr A. E. - Clarke, has been purchased by Mr R. Miller. 4L -
