The hockey season commenced in earnest in Masterton, yesterday, when all the local teams turned out to practice. At Lansdowne a scratch match was played, the Kia Kaha and United teams playing a match, with members of the Knox Church Club distributed on each side. Kia Kahas were victorious by 2 goals to 1; Williams and Hughes scored for Kia Kahas ana McHattie for United. The W.F.C.A., High School Girla, Garry Owen, Glengarry, and Huia Clubs also indulged in practice on the various grounds. Great interest is being taken in the game, this year, and there is every prospect of an interesting season for hockey players in the Wairarapa.
