AUSTRALIAN CRICKET TOUR. Received April 11. 8.30 a.m. LONDON, April 10. Tho Daily Mail states that the Mavylobone Cricket Oub has agreed to send a team in September, provided the Australian Board gives a guarantee against financial Ibss. Jackson is mentioned as a possible captain.
AN EX-PRESIDENT'S END. Received April 11, 8.30 a.m. LONDON, April 10. In connection with the assassination of M. Barrillos, ex-President of Guatemala, by a Guatemalan youth, aged 18 years, as cabled from New York on April Bth, it now transpires that the assassination took place not in the House of Representatives, Mexico City, but in a tramcar. The assassin, who used a dagger, was arrested.
SIR JOSEPH WARD. Received April 11, 9.42 p.m. LONDON, April 11. The Hon. W. P. Reeves and Mrs Reeves, on behalf of the New Zealand Association, gavea reception to Sir J. G. Ward. There were over 250 people present. Sir Joseph Ward and his party attended the wedding of Miss Ruby Daviss, daughter of Mr Moss Daviss, and Mr Harris, of London. Many New Zealanders were present. At the reception, held subsequently, Sir Joseph Ward, in proposing the health of the bride, announced the receipt of a great number of felicitations from Auckland. He hoped the marriage of such an esteemed New Zealander to a Londoner would be emblematic of closer political union. Sir Joseph and hia party will dine, on Tuesday, with the Prince and Princess of Wales.
