BESSES O' TH' BARN BAND.
Very great interest is being manifested in the visit to Masterton of the Besses o' th' Barn Band, who, in Great Britain, hold the proud position of premiers of the band world. It will be found in the Besses' artistically arranged programme that only the world's best music is indulged in. "The Ride of the Valkyries," for instance, with its intricate weavings, is one of the Besses' approved numbers, and the great "Tannhauser" overture presents no difficulties to these famous Lancastrians, who, under the masterly baton of Mr Alex. Owen, the eminent conductor and composer, will no doubt, illustrate here, as elsewhere, their rightful title—champions of the world. The opening performance here starts next Thursday afternoon. Concerts will also be given at the Town Hall on Thursday and Friday evenings. The box plan is at Messrs McLeod and Young's.
