At the annual conference of the Federated Catholic Young 1 Men's Clubs of New Zealand in Christchurch, a notice of motion in favour of proclaiming St. Patrick's Day a public holiday throughout New Zealand met with the approval of the delegates, and it was decided to cooperate with the Hibernian Society and the United Irish League in the matter.
