"THE SWETTENHAM INCIDENT."
Received April 5, 11.8 p.m. LONDON, April 5. The Standard states that Sir J. A. Swettanham, late Governor of Jamaica, describes his letter to Admiral Davies as of a private nature and written in a spirit of pleasantry as one friend to another. The Home Government peremptorily ordered him to apologise to Admiral Davies. tie apologised, and then resigned.
