There was a good attendance at the Exhibition, to-day, and trains from north and south were crowded with visitors, intent on making last inspections. The fact that poeticallythb laigtSstf attendance at the tion to date has been experienced ofily a fortnight before its conclusion is another example of history ingitssH> The latest' attendance at the last Melbourne Exhibition, consisting of 42,395 persons, was recorded on Saturday, January 26th, the Exhibition closing exactly a week later. This maximum total is three thousand less than the record fpr the New Zealand International Exhibition. Far and away the biggest weekly total at the Melbourne Fair was that of the final week, when the attendance totalled 142,593, the admissions for the final fortnight "bfe* ing 262,000. A corresponding boom at the New Zealand Exhibition would bring the total close to two .million. It is a,remarkable fact that with all the enormous crowds that have visited the Exhibition, including some thousands; of school children, tfierfc'hais 1 not arsftigle a^cjidertt 1 reported wfirom crushing or ' other cause. Mr Jacquies, the Government Panning Expert,' resumed his series Of fruit-preservingi demonstrations in the Agricultural Department court,, to-day, before a large number of spectators; The Concert Hall Was well attended for the Orchestral Concert in the afternoon, aftfl the dances of the Turakina Maori girls in the pah were much appreciated by the large assemblage. A valuable collection of oak-framed panora/nic photographs in the New South Wales court will be presented to the various public institutions throughout the colony. When the Exhibition closes, the Sydney Technical College exhibit and the steel and lead work will be given to the Seddon Technical College, Christchurch, and the Broken Hill Proprietary Company's exhibit of lead crystals to the Otago School of Mines. A quantity of valuable literature will also be distributed among New Zealand libraries.'; There was an overflowing audience at the concert given by Madame Blanche Arral and the Exhibition Orchestra to-night. Madame Arral sang to splendid advantage, and her hearers were moved to a great exhibition of enthusiasm. At the conclusion, Madame Arral shook hands with Mr Alfred Hill before the audience in acknowledgment of the splendid manner in which she was accompanied by the Orchestra. Madajne Arral will sing again in the Concert Hall on Friday night. It is understood that now the Easter rush has been disposed of, the Union Company intends shortly to run special boats from Wellington toLyttelton to convey visitors to the Exhibition at a very great reduction of fares. The General Manager suggests that the Exhibition should be opened on April 16th, and the gate money divided among all the employees in the building and sideshows. At the Children's Carnival, to be held in Wonderland, on Saturday next, races and contests of all kinds will be held and a search for buried treasure will be held, two nuggets being offered to boys under twelve and two nuggets to girls undertwelve.
