Matheson, of Eketahuna, addressed a moderately attended meeting, on the Land Bill in reply to the ' * Inthe course, of a speech" strongly advocating the freehold, he supported giving the freehold to land for sett)e T meat tenants. He condemned the Minister of Lands for turning his coat, imd alleged that he was hot the author of the Bill. | Ti>e speaker asserted that the Bill was an attack on the freehold, and a clear step towards land nationalisation. , A resolution was carried thanking the speaker ard expressing the opinion that "any Land! Bill which does not grant the option of the freehold is unsatisfactory and Is opposed to the settlement of Crown lands in this 1
