CORRESPONDENCE.
(To the Editor). Sir,—With , reference to the question as to the desirability of the Chinese, something came under my notice the other day which, if it is a fact, has, I think, some bearing upon it. I was travelling from Wellington, and was pointed out a rock in the harbour, just off an island called Somes' Island. I was told that the Government had erected a hut there, where they kept a Chinaman who suffered from leprosy, and who ultimately died there. I wish to be particular to say that I do not know if this is a real fact; but you will probably be aware if it is so or not, and if not so, to contradict it. —I am, etc., TRAVELLER. ,
