B/ Telegraph—Press Association. DANNEViRKE, March 23. The Borough Council have accepted ! a tender, of £1,825, for the erection of a new free public library, the gift of Mr Carnegie. No tender was accepted for a new high school • building, owing to the prices being too high. The Dannevirke Club's Lawn Tennis. Tournament, postponed from Motiday, was concluded to-day in fine v?Ssher. Results:—Men's Champion Singles: Adams beat Ebbett, 6 —2, 6—B. Ladies' Champion Singtes: Miss Wellwood. Combined Championship Doubles: Miss Grant and Adams. Men's Champion Doubles: Ebbett and Tipping. Ladies' Handicap Singles: Miss Hartgill. Men's Handicap Singles (second-clss): Saunders. Combined Handicap Doubles: Miss Reed and W. H. Swainson. Ladies' Handicap Doubles: Miss Page and Miss Grant. Men's Handicap Doubles: Mayne and Stewart. Men's Handicap Singles (first-class) were not completed.
