WHAKATAKI.

(From a Correspondent). There have been big floods in this locality lately, and several fences have been carried away. Large logs have been brought down by the creek and deposited at various places along the banks. A fine stag was seen on a hill very near a settler's residence at Whakataki the other day. It had, no doubt, been frightened in from the backcountry by deei-stalkers, as the shootirigiseason is now open. M'rSs Pickett, whose residence was burned down a few weeks ago, is a fine new building erected on the old site.
