GLADSTONE.
(From Our Own Correspondent). Monday. The fourteen yotUtg red deer now in captivity on Mr .3. Martin's property are to be liberated this week on the Tararua Ranges by the Acclimatisation Society. There will also be six from the jAdmiral Run Station for the same destination. Good heavy showers of rain have been falling since Saturday, and are proving very welcome to farmers generally. Mr A. R. Wallis, of Carterton, was the successful tenderer for the erection of a woolshed for Messrs Buchanan Bros., at Tupurupuru. The work will be started immediately. The races held at Waikikino, on Saturday, proved a great success. There was a large attendance. The racing throughout was very successful, and reflects great credit on the committee and secretary. Two local residents, Messrs J. Grant and E. Mason, were successful in winning three races.
