MAGISTRATE'S COURT.
MASTERTON-TUESDAY. (Before Mr W. P. James,'S.M.) For having been drunk, James Griffin was fined ss, in default 24 hours' imprisonment. Griffin was also charged with stealing a plate of oysters, valued at Is, the property of S. Azale, on March 18th. Accused pleaded not guilty. After hearing the evidence, the Magistrate dis- \ missed the case. . Walter Whittaker pleaded guiltyto a charge of having driven an express in Queen Street without lights on the evening of March 16th. A fine of ss, with 7s costs, was imposed. Sydney Cross was convicted and discharged for having furiously driven a motor car in Queen Street, ■contrary to the Borough by-laws. A charge against Bertie Edward Church for having ridden a bicycle in Queen Street without a light, on the evening of March 9th, was dismissed. „, .' A Albert Alexander Marbey and Archibald Montgomery were charged with omitting to supply their cows with proper and sufficient food and water between the hours of 12 noon on March 6th and 7 p.m. on March 7th, contrary to the Police Offences Act 1889. Both cases were adjourned to March 22nd.
