WELLINGTON if DEFEAT CANTERBURY. By Telegraph—Press Association. WELLINGTON, March 18., The lawn tennis match, Canterbury v. Wellington, was played to-day in thejCentral Drill-shed, owing to the wet weather. The cramped conditions marred against good play. Wellington won by six sets to three, or 75 games to 62. The following are the scores, Wellington players being mentioned first in each case: — Singles.—C. C. Cox v. Aitken, 9—3; Laishley v. Borrows, B—9; Snryth v. Kiver, 6—9; Gore v. Quill, 9—7; Peacock v. Goss, 9-1; H. Brown v. A. D. Cox, 9—7. Doubles. —C. C. Cox-and Laishley v. Aitken and Borrows, 9—6; Smyth and Gore v. Goss and A. D. Cox, 7 —9; Peacock and Brown v. Quill and Kiver, 9—7.
