UNIVERSITY BOAT RACE.
LONDON, March 15. The betting in connection- with the University boat race is 4to 1 on Cambridge. RACE WON BY CAMBRIDGE. Received March 17, 4.38 p.m. LONDN, March 16. Cambridge won the boat race by 4-J lengths. PARTICULARS OF THE RACE. CAMBRIDGE PADDLE HOME. Received March 18, 12.14 a.m. LONDON, March 17. The face was rowed in a strong wind with choppy water. Oxford won the toss and chose the Surrey side of the river. Cambridge, which had an exceptionally srtong crew, led throughout though Oxford made a plucky struggle. Cambridge paddled home winners by four lengths and a-half in 20min 26sec.
(Oxford and Cambridge have met on 64 occasions. Oxford has won 34 races, Cambridge 29, and one resulted in a dead heat).
