NATIVE LABOUR FOR THE RAND. CAPETOWN, March 15. The Witwatersrand Native Labour Association is proceeding against Mr J. B. Robinson, mine-owner, for libel in accusing the association of deliberately restricting the supply of Kaffirs. (Mr Robinson, according to a cablegram on Saturday, alleges that native labour is offering in thousands).

Lord St. Aldwyn, in a speech at Durban, said it was impracticable for the Motherland to grant preference to the colonies, and no practical result would follow the discussion of the subject at the Imperial Conference. (Lord St. Aldwyn was fomerly Sir Michael Hicks-Beach, who held office as Chancellor of the Exchequer in several Conservative Ministeries, and resigned on Mr Chamberlain raising his tariff proposals). BOMBAATA REPORTED TO BE ALIVE. Received March 17, 4.38 p.m. PIETERMARITZBURG, Mar. 16. The Landhla correspondent of the Natal Mercury declares that Bambaata, the.Zulu rebel chief, is still alive, and' that he has been living at Fongosi Valley. The correspondent states that he recently visited Basutoland.
