BRITISH POLITICS.

CRIMES ACT DENOUNCED,

Received March 15, 7.46 a.m. LONDON, March 14

The Nationalists in the House of Commons moved a resolution denouncing the Crimes Act as a violation of the Constitution, and that it be repealed. Mr Birrell, Secretary for Ireland, said the Government and most of the Liberal Party were pledged to use every reasonable opportunity to repeal the Act, though he doubted if an opportunity would occur this session. Meanwhile, the Act would be treated as practically dead. The motion was carried by 252 votes to 88.
