BENEVOLENT SOCIETY.

MEETING OF TRUSTEES. The monthly meeting of the Trustees of the North Wairarapa Benevolent Society was held yesterday. There were present:—Messrs R. T. Holmes (chairman), E. Feist, J. Morris, and W. Morris. Mrs Nicholls wrote resigning her position as a member of the Society. The resignation was accepted, and it was decided to write to Mrs Nicholls, thanking her for her past services to the Society. The Trustees decided not to take charge of two children who wer>j at present confined to the Fever Hospital, recovering from scarlet fever. The mother of the children was in the Hospital, and the Trustees thought that the children should be allowed to remain with their mother. With regard to a person who had been receiving assistance from the Society for a number of years, it was decided to discontinue the amount allowed him for stores at the end of a month. It was decided to continue assistance to the extent of 10s per week to an applicant suffering from bad eyes. The pay-sheet, amounting to £46 lis 8d (maintenance £3O lis 5d and Renall Solway' Home «£l6 0s 3d) was passed for payment. On the motion of Mr Feist, the Trustees decided to ask the Masterton County Council to appoint Mrs Cairns to the Society, vice Mrs Nicholls,. resigned.
