BAGDAD RAILWAY SCHEME.

Received March 13, 8.48 a.m

BERLIN, March 12

(The Bagdad railway scheme was one of the objects for which Germany contended for predominance in Constantinople. A Berlin message published on Tuesday stated that since Anglo-French capital had secured the Quays Company, that predominance was despaired of. The railway to the East via Bagdad has always been regarded by Britain as a competitor, but, while not assisting in its capitalisation, she has done nothing to actively oppose it.)
