LIMITATION OF ARMAMENTS.
Received March 13, 8.43 a.m. NEW YORK, March 12. Lord Charles Beresford, Commander of the Channel Squadron, interviewed at San Francisco respecting the limitation of armaments, said the people were now the arbiters of peace, and would realise that battleships are cheaper than battles. AUSTRIA-HUNGARY'S ATTITUDE. Received March 13, 8.48 a.m. BUDAPEST, March 12. A semi-official statement published in Budapest is interpreted to mean that Austria-Hungary intends to prevent discussion, at The Hague Conference, of the restriction of armaments.
