MASTERTON A. AND P. ASSOCIATION.

GENERAL COMMITTEE. The monthly meeting of the General Committee of the Masterton A. and P. Association was held on .Saturday. There were presentMessrs R. Gray (chairman), D. Caselberg, T. P. Lett, T. W. McKenzie, W. Perry, R. Johnstone, J. P. Perry, J. D. Cruickshank, J. Morris, G. C. Summerell, B. Rayner, D. McGregor, junr., J. C. McKillop, and W. Cooper. Apologies for absence were received from Messrs W. D. Watson, J. Macßae, J. Strang, A. G. Pilmer, 0. C. Cooper and J. C. Cooper. Messrs T. Hoult and Sons, of Feiiding, wrote asking the Association to refund .certain entry fees in horse classes, as they were unable to compete in those classes at the recent Show. It was decided that the Committee could not see their way to make any refund of entry fees. Mr A. Henderson wrote asking to be favoured with orders for medals, pointing out that he had just installed an up-to-date manufacturing plant and had secured the services of competent tradesmen. It was decided to call tenders for the supply of medals among the local jewellers. Mr E. Hale wrote offering the Association a prize of 15s for cactus -dahlias for the next show, not less than six varieties, to be purchased from him during the year, to be shown. It was decided to thank Mr Hale for his donation.! The Auckland A.- and P. Association wrote stating that it was intened to hold a conference of Agricultural Societies in Wellington, about July next, and asking the Association to forward the names ■of their delegates and a list of the subjects they wished to bring forward for discussion. Messrs D. McGregor, junr., and W. Perry were appointed delegates, and the matter of drawing up questions to be discussed was referred to them. The Finance Committee submitted the financial position of, the Association as follows:—Receipts for the month, £BB3 4s; dr. balance at last meeting, £294 5s Id; expenditure .£3Ol 9s 3d; leaving a balance, m addition to the cheques oustanding, £6 6s 6d, of £293 16s 2d. Accounts amounting to £1,357 3s 9d were recommended for payment. The report was adopted. The Ground Committee recommended that permission be granted to the Glengarry Hockey Club to use the Showgrounds for practice purposes, on the same terms as last year, and that the letting of the grounds for grazing purposes be held over for a future meeting. The recommendations were approved The Secretary submitted a rough -balance-sheet for the year to date, showing the receipts to have been £1 791 4s 6d (members' subscriptions £341, entry fees £320 18s 3d, cash donations £192 3s 6d, privileges £145 15s 6d, gates £213 19s 6d, luncheons £162 16s 9d, ram fair JEISI 3s, luncheons for stewards £59 13s), and the expenditure £2,336 10s 2d (improvements and plant £476 5s 2d, arrears £BO 6s 6d, cash prizes £792 7s 6d, judges £SO, printing and advertising £IOO 15s 3d. ram fair! expenses £6O Is sd, luncheons £227 12s Bd, labour £35 18s, gatekeepers JS29 15s, rates and insurance £49 4s sd), leaving a dr. balance of £545 5s Bd. The balance-sheet was adopted. The resignations of Messrs C. Harris, (Maryborough), T. Grace, E. Swainson, E. Schofield, W. F. Harding, G. Gaskin, Donald Potts, F/ E. Dorset, G. Banks, and the Massey-Harris Company were accepted. The following new members were elected:—Messrs T. Chegwin, J. B. Green, B. P. Lethbridge,, H. Sinclair, J. Sweeney, T. H. Hunt, and Mrs P. McLaren. A suggestion by Mr Lett with regard to improving the printing of the members' and ladies' tickets and the Show catalogue was ordered to be placed in the suggestion book. The same course was adopted with regard to Mr McKillop's suggestion that the afternoon tea-room be kept open from 10 a.m. at the next Show, instead of 2 p.m. as was the ■case at the last Show.
