LAWN TENNIS.
The match between the Masterton and Palmerston North Lawn Tennis Clubs for the Country Club Championship (Challenge Cup), which was to have taken place at Pahiatua on Saturday next, has been postponed, owing principally to the inability of the local lady players to get away for the trip. It is quite possible, however, that arrangements may be made for the match to be played at Pahiatua on Saturday, the 23rd instant, and if this is done perhaps* the committee of the local club may on that occasion be favoured with a greater amount of success than they met with on the present occaison. The winners of this match will have the right to challenge the Wellington Tennis Club for the Provincial Association's Shield. A match between the Carterton and Masterton Lawn Tennis Clubs will be played on the Masterton Club's courts on Saturday afternoon, commencing about 2 o'clock. The Carterton Club will be' represented by six ladies and six men, and the players to represent the local club 1 will be selected this afternoon.
