STOCK MARKET.

Messrs Abraham and Williams, Limited, report on the sale of the Whangaimoana breeding ewes and other sheep, held at Pirinoa, on Tuesday, as follows The attendance was large, several buyers from Manawatu, Rangitikei, and Wanganui district being present, also from Taranaki as far north as New Plymouth, while the whole of the Wairarapa district was strongly represented. Business at auction was animated, and a most satisfactory sale has to be reported. The Whangaimonana sheep—with the exception of tha 4-tooth ewes, which were somewhat disappointing realised prices in excess of anticipations. A line of 1,100 odd 2-tooth ewes was purchased by a Stratford buyer, and will be railed to that district. We have to thank Mr William Hurha for his courtesy in placing his yards at our disposal for the purpose of holding the sale. Prices realised were as followß9o 4-tooth ewes 21s, 740 6-tooth ewes 19s Id, 920 4-year-old ewes 15s 9d, 1,025 2-tooth ewes 15s 6d, 730 5-year-old ewes 14s 7d, t aged ewes lis 7d to 13s 2d, cull 2tooth ewes 13s Id, 4 and 6-tOoth Romney rams 22s to 24s 6d, Shropshire rams 10s 6d. On behalf of other . vendors —Wethers including several small and halfbred sheep 13s Bd. halfbred wethers 12s Id, 4 yearolds ewes 14s, cull ewes (mixed ages) lis 9d, empty cows (a number of which were in good condition) £3 ss.

Messrs Abraham and Williams, Ltd., report as follows on their Pahiatua stock sale, on Tuesday:—At Pahiatua we had a heavy yarding of sheep, which met a spirited sale. Good breeding ewes and well-grown lambs were chiefly in demand. The bulk of the lots changed hands at auction, in many cases at prices in excess of owners' anticipations. The Balfo-u* ewes made 14s 9d and the lamb.'.; >is lOd. With the exception of a couple of lines, we have to report a clean slate. .The yarding of cattle w?.s not large. A good clearance, ho\rever, was effected. The sale, in this respect, was somewhat irregular. Quotations: Sheep Two-tooth ewes, small, 14s 6d to 14s lOd; 2, 4, and 6-tooth ewes, 16s 3d to 16s 8d; sound-mouth ewes, 14s to 15s; others, 13s Id to 13s 6d; culls, 8s lOd to lis lOd; shorn lambs, 7s to 8s lOd and up to 9s 2d for good conditioned lots; small cull wethers, lis 2d to 12s; 2tooth Romney rams, ign to 4gns; aged, lgn; aged Lincolns, 14s to lgn; 2-tooth Lincoln rams 2£gns to 3gns. Cattle —Fat cows £3 10s to £4, 18-months steers £2 5s to £2 10s, weaners 10s to lis, aged bulls 20s. Messrs Abraham and Williams, Ltd., report as 'follows on their Masterton stock sale held yesterday The heaviest yarding of - sheep we have had so far this season came forward. The entry consisted principally of breeding ewes of all classes and lambs. For all good quality lots competition was animated, and, although inferior sorts were hard to quit, still we had a most satisfactory sale, and very few lots were passed out unsold. Cattle came forward in average numbers the whole yarding selling at full rates. We quote Sheep—Fat ewes, 13s to 14s 6d; forward ewes, lis to 12s 6d; best breeding ewes, 16s; others 15s 4d, 15s 2d, 15s, 14s 9d, 14s 6d, 14s, 13s 9d down to 12s; medium breeding ewes, 10s to lis 6d; best 2-tooth ewes 16s, other 2-tooth ewes, lis 6d to 13s 6d; 4 and 6-tooth ewes, 15s 4d; old ewes, 5s 6d to Ss; lambs, best, woolly, lis 7d; other woolly lambs, 9s to 9s 6d; best shown, 9s 4d; other shorn, Ss to 9s; ewes and lambs, all counted, inferior, 5s 4d. Cattle—Three-year steers £3 16s, 15 and 18-month steers and heifers £2, springing cows £4 ss, cows in milk £2 2s 6d to £3 ss, calves 5s to 10s, emptyheifers £3 lis to £3 15s. At the Masterton saleyards yesterday a large line of sheep and lambs belonging to a Bideford settler were condemned by the Inspector of Stock owing to their being affected with lice. The auctioneers arranged to dip the sheep immediately after the sale.
