MASTERTON FIRE POLICE.

A social was held at the Masterton Fire Police Station, last evening, at which the medals donated by Captain Dixon and Mr F. S. Cooper, for Town Hall duty and the Two-Men Competition, respectively, were presented to the winners. Lieutenant Wilton presided, and there was a large attendance, The medal for Town Hall duty was won by Constable Campbell, and the medals for the Two-Men Competition were won by Constable Butcher and Secretary Lewis. Captain Dixon and Lieutenant Wilton made the presentations of the medals to the winners, who suitably responded. The evening was then spent in a convivial manner. The following toasts were honoured: —"The King," the Chairman; "Captain Dixon," Mr J. W. H. Martin; "Donors of Trophies," Mr J. W. H. Martin—Captain Dixon; "The Visitors," Constable J. Campbell—Messrs E. Livermore and T. Fielding; "The Ladies," Mr W. Simmonds—Mr W. Harding; "Municipal Fire Brigade," Lieut. Wilton—'Mr F. Jackson; "The Press," Mr J. W. H. Martin. Songs were sung by Messrs W. Harding, F. Jackson, A. Wadham, W. Biggs, and R. Russell. _ The latter also gave a recitation. A number of selections were given on a gramaphone operated by Mr E. Livermore. A vote of thanks was accorded to Mr Livermore and also to the Dresden Piano Company for the use of the piano.
