EKETAHUNA.

(From Our Own Cori*espondent): Monday. The Anglican bazaar was brought to a close last night. The amount % realised at the bazaar was £146. The Vicar (Rev. Kitcat) and Mrs Kitcat, supported by a large ladies' committee, worked hard to make the bazaar the success it was. It is satisfactory to note how well their -efforts have been rewarded. The various guessing competitions held in connection with the recent Anglican bazaar resulted as follows: Miss E. Bell won the prize for guessing the correct name of Miss Turner's doll "Mona." The actual age of the baby doll was 2 weeks 5 days 6J minutes. This competition was * won by Mrs Tuckwell, of Hamua, who guessed 2 weeks 4 days 2 hours 4 minutes. Miss F. Kummer, of Mauriceville, selected the name of the gentleman in Eketahuna who is supposed to be engaged to the *'Belle" of the doll stall. Mrs Stott, of Rongokokako, guessed correctly where the housemaid doll secured a stuation. A dressed lamb, weighing 52Ibs lOoz, presented by Mr J. P. Lowes, of Rongomai, was divided between Mrs Maunsell and Mr A. H. Herbert, both guessing the same weight, viz., 521bs Boz. The cake given by Mr W. Kershaw, baker, of Eketahuna, was won by Mrs A. Jackson, of Eketahuna, who guessed the •actual weight, viz., 81bs 2oz. The cake presented by Mr Robt. McGarry, baker and pastrycook, of Eketahuna and Parkville, was won by Mrs R. Manson, of Eketahuna, who guessed within one ounce of the actual weight, viz., Slbs Boz. '"Mrs Bray won the cake presented by Mrs Prank Pelling. She guessed 81bs soz. . 1 . The balance of the perishable articles- were sold at the close of the bazaar by Mr Griffith, of Messrs Mitchell and Griffith, auctioneers and estate agents, Eketahuna, and Pahiatua.

Mr Farfe'ita, of Newman, has a splendid crop of the famous Northern Star potatoes, securing close on Bcwt. of the very be§t quality from 251bs of seed, which had been procured from the local branch of the Wairarapa Farmers' Co-operative Association. Members of the Court Makakahi paid a return visit to the Pahiatua branch of the A.0.F., when the visitors were entertained, a splendid s-ipper being provided. The usual toasts were honoured. During the evening various musical items and songs were rendered. On Friday evening the settlers of Pleckville tendered a social to Mr and Mrs Lozell, who are about to leave the district. During the evening Mr Donaldson, on behalf of the settlers, presented Mr Lozell with a handsome case of pipes. An attractive display that draws the attention of visitors is being made by Miss Ranger, Who is managing the branch depot of Messrs McLeod and Young, of Masterton and Eketahuna. The stock comprises stationery, school books, writing material, the very latest novels, magazines and fancy goods and novelties. This firm are agents in the Wairarapa for the Wellington Piano Company, and have one of the company's instruments on view at this branch. Mr McLeod . frequently visits here in connection with the firm's repair and tuning business. The local Postmaster (Mr W. N. Tregonning)is away on a well-earned holiday. He intends visiting the South Island, and will be absent for a month. Mr W. Forrest, of Pahiatua, is Acting-Postmaster during the absence of Mr Tregonning.
