GISBORNE, March 4

Maoris from the Bay of Plenty report that Hare Matenga, the Maori' outlaw, for whom the police have been in pursuit for several years, had robbed a Maori camp and stolen a boat on the Motu River, inland from Te Kahi. He was followed, and seen by a native constable from Opotiki. Matenga escaped capture.
