MASTERTON SCHOOL CADETS.
The Masterton District High School Cadets arrived back 1 * in Masterton yesterday afternoon from the Christchurch Exhibition by special train. The Cadets were absent for about eight days, and the officers state that their conduct was admirable. The „ Cadets were met at the Station by Mr W/ Hi Jackson, Headmaster, and Mr R. Brown, Chairman of the School Committee. The boys were then marched to the Drill Hal], where they were addressed by the Headmaster. He complimented them on their good conduct, and referred to the care that the officers had taken of the boys while in Christchurch. He also mentioned that the Masterton School had sent away to the Exhibition the largest number of Cadets of any school in the colony. Mr. Brown said he hoped that the Headihaster would see his way to arrange for a competitive essay on the trip to Christchurch among the boys. Mr Jackson mentioned that he had omitted to state that Mr G. S. W. Dalrymple had promised to give a prize of 10s for the best essay on the trip in each of the three standards that were represented in the Cadets. The competition would be held shortly. ; boys were then dismissed.
