FIRE AT INVERCARGILL.
By Telegraph—Press Association. INVERCARGILL, Last Night. A fire occurred to-day in the premises occupied by the Southland Bread Company, late G. T. Smyth and Co. The Fire Brigade was promptly on the scene and prevented an extensive conflagration. A large bake-room was completely gutted, and valuable plant badly damaged. A small bread-room was gutted, and a cart shelter damaged. The damage is estimated at £BOO. The insurances are Machinery, £1,021; gas engine and room, £154; stock, £250; building, £1,000; all in the New Zealand Insurance Office, the South British holding a re-insur-ance of £SOO.
