CHRISTCHURCH SUPREME COURT.

CHRISTCHURCH, Last Night. At the Christchurch Supreme Court to-day Beatrice Milford was ordered to come up for sentence when called upon on a charge of making a false declaration to the Registrar of Births, fhe woman had a family of 14 children, nine under 12 years, and had made a false declaration in regard to her last child, which was illegitimate. The evidence showed that she had to work for her living, and had a hard struggle to support her family. Robert McCarthy and Stephen Maxwell, recent escapees from gaol, were sentenced Maxwell to 12 months, in addition to what he was serving, and McCarthy to two years. The latter was declared to be an habitual criminal.
