EXHIBITION RIFLE MEETING.
TEAMS MATCH. WON BY GREEN ISLAND RIFLES (DUNEDIN). By Telegraph—Press Association. CHRISTCHURCH, February 24. The final day's shooting was devoted to the Champion Teams and Weekly Press Cadet Shield. The weather was dull and heavy in the morning, but brightened' up later. The glaring sun and great heat upset some of the scores. There were thirty entries in , the Teams' Match, which was fired in two sections. At the close of the 200 yds the leading teams were: —Hawke's Bay Mounted Rifles 167. Opaki No. 1, 162, Linwood No. 1, 161 All others were close up. McCormick, of Hawke's Bay, scor;-d the only possible. At the clojse of i the 500 yds Hawke's Bay were lead ,ing, the best scores being:—Hawke's Bay. 324, Linwood 320, Green Island and' Weber 316. At the 600 yds Green Island finished first, with a total of 465, Weber next with 463. For Hawke's Bay McCormick put up 25 Well wood 28, McMurray 26. For Linwood P. Jack made 26, King 32, Gee 23. The last two men of the Hawke's Bay team had to get 63 to win and Linwood 65. F. Humphries, finishing with four bulls-eyes, got 31. Hyde finished with two inners and scored 31, tying with Green Island for the total. T. Jack finished first of the Linwood pair and scored 25. All interest had now gone out of the match, which was won by Green Island on the count. The following were the scores:— CHAMPION TEAMS MATCH, 200 yds, 500 yds, and 600 yds; Watkinson Shield and £3B.
