WAIRARAPA EMPLOYERS' ASSOCIATION.
REPORT BY THE SECRETARY
The Secretary of the Wairarapa Employers' Association (Mr S. E. Wright) submitted a report to the meeting of the Executive Committee of the Association, yesterday, on matters connected with the Association that had taken place since the last meeting. Under the auspices of the Association, been two meetings of plumbers in connection with the Conciliation Board, one meeting of tinsmiths and two of coachbuilders in connection with the Arbitration Court's sitting, one meeting of farriers to discuss the proposed Farriers' Bill, one meeting of builders to consider the proposed Scaffolding Bill, one meeting of printers regarding the printers' machinists' dispute, and three meetings of the Holidays Committee to grant holidays. Sittings of the Arbitration Court had been held in Masterton in reference to the coach- : .builders' and tinsmiths' awards, and the Conciliation Board had met twice ; in Masterton, in connection with the plumbers' and printers' machinists' disputes. At all of these sittings the .employers were represented by the Secretary, on behalf of the members, in conjunction with Mr J. H. Pauling for the coachbuilders, Mr A. Pickering for the plumbers and tinsmiths, and Messrs Mcßobie and Buick for the printers' machinists' disputes. In the coachbuilders' and tinsmiths' cases the employers were satisfied with the awards given, whilst, owing to their not being able to come to an agreement with the Plumbers' Union over hours and wages, the plumbers' dispute had been referred to the Arbitration Court. The printers' case will also be referred to the Court unless exemption is granted for the Waira- . v -,-t
