THE RECENT CAPE RAID.

Received February 22, 8.2 a.m. CAPETOWN, February 21. Piet Ferreira, the leader of the late raid in Cape Colony, with four other participants in the raid, have been sentenced to death at Kimberley. Two of them, Potgieter and Retrief, have been recommended to mercy. They alleged that a German captain named Siebert induced them to cross the frontier,- in order to create a diversion for Germany's benefit. They also said they received £2OO for doing so. Siebert flatly denied these statements.
