MASTERTON RACING CLUB. ' AUTUMN MEETING. \ The Autumn Race Meeting of the Masterton Racing Club will be held on Thursday and Friday, March 21st and 22nd next, and the Stewards have succeeded in presenting an attractive programme, which is published elsewhere. The stakes have been increased by 95 sovs, as compared with the corresponding meeting last year, and the nomination fees are reduced from 20s to 10s on all events of 60 sovs and under. The principal events of the meeting are the Waipipi Cup Handicap, 200 sovs; Autumn Handicap, 130 sovs;" March Handicap, and Telephone Handicap, 100 sovs each. The hack division has also received most liberal treatment. Nominations for all events, except the Maiden Hack Race, will close with the Secretary, Mr A. Hathaway, at 9.30 p.m., on Friday, March Ist.

TURF NOTES. THE WOODVILLE MEETING. (By Zetland). For the meeting which will open to-morrow, the course should be in splendid order,',having benefited considerably by recent rains. As regards contestants thisWistrict will be fairly well represented, and a share of the prize money should come this way. Judging by the list of acceptances there should be excellent racing, and taken altogether the -meeting should be well up to the Club's usual standard. The following are suggested as likely to finish in the leading positions of their engagements : Maiden.—Routine and Lady Nell. 1 Hack Hurdles.—Gold Dust. Whariti Hack. Millenial and Rendrock. Woodville Cup.—Polyanthus and Royal Blue. County Hack.—Scotch Reel and Marseillaise. Handicap.—Moral and Rrtsegrove. Victoria Hack.—Lady Stockwell and Sandix. Telephone Handicap.—Lord Soult and Sunbonnet. WANGANUI WEIGHTS. *The weights for the Wanganui Cup appeared on Saturday. Achilles leads off with the welter weight of 10.7, and may therefore be kept for the Jackson Stakes, where he will carry weight-for-age and penalties. Advance, 9.7, is an improbable starter, but Multifid reads well with 8.13, as he ran second in the New Zealand Cup, and won the Canterbury Cup. He should have improved since the Spring, and if so will be very hard to beat in this race. Marguerite, 8.12, may find one mile and three-quarters quite far enough, and Paritutu is fairly treated with 8.4. If Armistice, 8.3, could be brought out in her November form, she would be the ruling favourite at this juncture, butgthe Mahaki mare is said to be still showing the effects of the attack of strangles which caused her to be thrown out of work in December. So far Zimmerman has not proved himself a distance performer in handicap company, but Apa, 7.7, may be relied upon to run a good race. King Billy, 7.7, and St. Joe, 7.6, are nicely treated, as also is Star Rose, at 7.5. It is seldom that a New Zealand Cup winner can get in at this weight, so if the Day Star horse should strip in the pink of condition, his party may score another big win. Of those lower in the weights Ghoorka, 7.3, Truce, 7.1, Riflemaid, 6.13, Eden, 6.12, and Lapland 6.10, are the most likely to see the post j
