WELLINGTON WOOL AND SKIN SALES. Messrs Levin and Company, Ltd., report as follows regarding Friday's sale:—We held our usual fortnightly •sale, to-day, offering a quantity of wool, 2,300 skins, 450 hides, and a •quantity of tallow and horsehair. Wool—Only bag wool was offered. Prices were steady. We quote: Coarse crossbred in bags 9d to 9Jd, rough and inferior 8d to 9d, pieces ■and bellies 6d to 6|d, locks 3Jd to 4Jd. Skins—Market was strong. Woolly skins were id to £d higher. -Pelts were Jd to Jd easier. We quote: .Merinos 7£d to B£d, fine crossbreds 9d to lOd, coarse B|d to 9|d, dead skins 6|d to 7|d, dead hoggets 6§d to 7id, dry pelts 7d to 7fd, lamb skins" 8d to 9£d, green iamb skins 3s : -to 4s 9d, green pelts 3s to 4s 3d, lamb pelts Is 6d to 2s Id. Tallow—Parcels in shipping order £26. Tins £l7 to £22 9s; rough fat £ls. Horsehair —Is to Is 6d. Horns —13s to 16s 3d per hundred. Hides —There • was a large entry of good hides and -a full attendance of buyers. Prices advanced a farthing. We quote:— •Ox hides, extra heavy, 6Jd to 7d; ox hides, 701bs and over, 6|d to 6£d; ox hides, 50lbs to 701bs, 6Jd to 6|d; •cow hides, s|d to 6Jd; calf skins, .best, 6d to 7d; calf skins, slippy, 3d to 4d; calf skins, cut, 5d to s£d; cut and slippy hides, 5d to 6d; stag hides, 4d to 4£d; bull hides, 3£d to 4Jd. The next sale will be'held on Friday, March Ist, 1907. The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company, Ltd., reports as follows:—We offered a representative catalogue of bag wool, sheepskins, horsehair, and tallow. Owing to'the absence of several local wool-sorters, bag wool was rather neglected, and a number of lots were passed in. These will be offered in bag catalogue at our wool sale next week. Sheepsikns, pelts and hides met a good demand at rather slightly in advance of last sales. We quote: —Wool in bags: Crossbred, coarse, 9d to 9 Jd; dead wool, inferior, 6|d to BJd; locks and pieces, 3Jd to 7|d. Sheepskins: Full-woolled crossbreds, ■coarse, 9d to 9£d; crossbred pelts from 7£d to BJd; lambskins, 9d to 9id; dead skins and damaged, 7d to 7|d per lb; green pelts from 2s 3d to 3s lid; lambs, 3s 6d to 4s 2d. Hides: —Medium ox and cow, s£d to 6Jd; damaged ox and cow, 5d to s£d; calf, sound, 51d to 7|d; calf, damaged, 3|d to 5d per lb. Horsehair from 8d to Is 6d per lb. Tallow—ln casks, medium quality, mixed 25s 9d, good mixed, to 275; in tins from 19s 6d to'22s; rough'fat, 16s 6d per cwt. Messrs Dalgety and Co., iLtd., report as follows:—The usual number of buyers were present and competition was keen throughout. Our catalogue comprised only bag lots of wool, some very fair skins (mostly dry), and a splendid lot of prime hides. We realized the following prices: \ — Wool Medium crossbred 9d to 9£d, inferior 6Jd to 7d, inferior lambs sd, pieces to sd. Skins- The market for really good lines was slightly higher than last series, while for other lines prices were firm at last sale rates. We quote:—Woolly crossbred 9d to 9id; crossbred, shorts, 8d to B|d; crossbred, inferior and broken, 7Jd to 7fd; lambs, good, 9£d to 9fd; seedy, 7d to 7Jd; pelts, 2s 3d to 2s 8d; green pelts, ,3s Bd. Hides—The market was very firm with an upward tendency for good lines. We quote: — Prime ox, 711bs, 6Jd to 6Jd ; medium ox, 601b to 651b, 6Jd to 6fd; light ox, 551b, 6Jd to 6£d;prime cow, 401b to 451bs, 6Jd to6Jd; medium cow, s§d to 6d per lb. Tallow—Casks, in shipping order, £24 to £26 per ton. In tins, £2l per ton. Horns, 17s 9d per 100. Shank bones, 4s 9d per cwt.
