PERSONAL NOTES.

LONDON, January 4. At the Royal Colonial Institute the following names of New Zealanders appear among the recent lists of fellows Mr Herbert Acton-Adams, the Hon. Ernest A.v P. Molesworth, ■and Mr Walter Seth-Smith. Mr G. S. Powell was the winner of the New Zealand Shield at the Ham and Petersham Club, at Petersham. Lord Sudeley stated, at ( the annual dinner which took place on December 15th, 1906, that the Club was opened on April 7th last, and the number members was: —Life 111; ordinary, 289; ladies,4B; hon. members, 8; total, 401. The|death took place at Claremont House, Tilford, Surrey, on the 9th inst., of Mrs Katherine Julius, "widow of Mr Reginald Julius, of Rugged Ridges. Mr R. J. Turner, senior partner of the firm of Weddel, Turner and Co., well-known in connection with New Zealand produce, has been made ;a Commissioner of the Peace for the County of Surrey At Christ Church, Woburn Square, London, Miss Gertrude M. Wall, only daughter of Mr H. H. Wall, of Te Karawa, Gisborne, was married to Mr Fred. S. Barton, son of Mr W. M. Barton, of East Dereham, Norfolk. The Rev. J. Brooke Harte officiated. Mr W. W. Moore, M.8., of Middlesex Hospital, and of New Zealand "University, has been made a Fellow .of the Royal College of Surgeons. The death took place on Christmas Eve, at the Riviera Palace Hotel, Penzance, of Mr Patrick Comiskey, ■of 70 South Audley Street, Mayfair, formerly of Auckland. The funeral took place at Brighton on the 29th lilt. The Gazette states that the King has been pleased to approve the retention of the title "Honourable" by Mr William Montgomery, who has served, as a member of xhe Legislative Council of New Zealand for the last ten years. Miss Ethelred Taylor, of Wanga'nui, who is studying medical gymnastics and Swedish massage at the Swedish Institute in South Kensington, has passed two of her examinations Jand goes up for her finals this and next month. One of the exhibits at the New Zealand Exhibition is, I am, informed, a number of designs from Mr Hubert C. Corlette, F.R.1.8.A., of the firm of Nicholson and Corlette. "This firm is prominent among us here just now, and is among the firms of architects invited by the London County Council to submit designs for its new County Hall. Mr Corlette is an Australian by birth, a son of the late Canon Corlette, and a grandson of the late Sir Montague Manning. He was born in Sydney in 1869, and educated at" Sydney Grammar School, and the University of Sydney, and was five years at the Royal Academy School. He has exhibited at the Royal Academy, and was one of the eight architects awarded an honourable mention in the Liverpool. CaCompetition in 1902.
