WEDDING.
EVANS—CARPENTER,
A wedding in which considerable interest was taken was celebrated at the . Masterton Methodist Church, yesterday afternoon, when Mr F. R. Evans, fourth son of the late Rev. G. D. Evans, of Bristol, England, was'married to Miss Florence Isabel Carpenter, eldest daughter of Mr J. Carpenter, of Masterton. The bride was given away by her father and wore a handsome cream silk eoline gown trimmed with Limerick lace and orange blossoms. She also wore a bridal veil mounted with orange blossoms. The bridesmaids were Misses Edith and Violet Carpenter,, sisters of the bride. Each was attired in a white embroidered dress with silk sash and a Lady Hamilton hat of rich wine shade trimmed with velvet. The bridesmaids also carried pretty shower bouquets of sweet peas and carnations. The best man was Mr,V. G. Darroch, and Mr W. J. Vernon was groomsman. The ceremony was performed by the Rev. A. T. Thompson, 8.A.,8.D. A reception was held at the residence of the bride's parents, "Glenore," Dixon Street, and a large number of guests were present. The bridegroom's' present to the bride was a beautiful gold necklet and pearl star pendant, and to each of the bridesmaids a pearl and sapphire crescent.. A large number of costly presents were received by the newly-wedded couple. Mr and Mrs Evans left by the afternoon train for Christchurch, where the honeymoon will be spent. The bride's travelling dress was a navy blue tailor made costume with hat to match. Mr and Mrs Carpenter entertained a large number of guests at their residence last evening, and an enjoyable time was spent. The gathering dispersed about midnight with the singing of "Auld Lang Syne."
