FIRE ON A SCHOONER.

By Telegraph--Press Association. AUCKLAND, February 5. The auxiliary schooner Greyhound, from the North, when coming up the harbour this afternoon, took fire arnong the flax portion of the cargo. The vessel was berthed at the wharf quickly, and leads of hose from the wharf inn ,on board. The fire float was also requisitioned. After about an hour's pumping of water into the hold the fire was still progressing and it was then decided to take the vessel in shore, where she was scuttled, and the fir .: put out. The vessel was then pum]ud out, and refloated. It isjjnot expected that the vessel is injured, but the cargo must be badly damaged by fire and water. There are no insurances on the vessel, but whether the cargo is insured or not is unascertainable at present.
