AUCKLAND CITY BAND.
. -» The Auckland City Salvation Army Band, of thirty-six members, arrived in Masterton, yesterday, and in the evening gave a concert in the Salvation Army Barracks. The hall was filled with an enthusiastic audience. The programme was a varied one, but chief interest was centred in those items in which the whole Band took part. The Band's playing was excellent, and was loudly applauded by the audience. Among the selections that they rendered were "Under the Tricolour," "Lead Kindly Light," "Fountain," and the wellknown "Ora Pro Nobis." In each item the Band excelled, the body being splendid, while the individual playing was all that could be desired. Numerous vocal and instrumental solos were also given, in each of which the members showed themselves possessed of no mean talent. Novelties were introduced in the shape of mouth-organ and whistling selections, which were warmly applauded. Taken altogether the entertainment was a capital one.
