EKETAHUNA STOCK SALE. Messrs Dalgety and Co., Ltd., held their fortnightly sale at the Eketahuna yards, on Friday, when about 2,500 sheep came forward, but not so many cattle as usual. There was a large attendance of buyers, Wairarapa and Pahiatua being well represented. The entry of sheep chiefly comprised lambs. The whole catalogue was cleared under the hammer, but the demandg£for breeding ewes £and

wethers was limited. There was practically no inquiry for cattle. A nice line of 2-tooth ewes reached 15s 6d, others from lis 9d to 13$ 7d, good 2-tooth wethers 13s 9d to 14s 2d, others to 13s 2d, aged ewes 7s to Bs, shorn lambs (best) 8s 8d to 9s, others 4s 5d to 7s sd, woolly lambs 9s 2d, 20 months steers 41s, empty.heifers 465, weaners 8s to 13s. MASTERTON HORSE SALE. Messrs Dalgety and Co., Ltd., held their horse sale at the Masterton Showgrounds on Saturday, when over one hundred horses were submitted. Buyers were present from all parts of the district, and a spirited demand was experienced for all good sorts in both draughts and light horses, and where reserves were reasonable practically all sold. A large number of inferior horses were offered, and, though in many cases they were passed in, a fair number of sales were effected. Taken altogether, although at times the sale was of a very dragging nature, it must be considered very satisfactory, as over fifty horses were disposed of. Good buggy horses on account of Mr G. Hume, sold from £l6 16s to £23, on other vendors account £l4 10s to £ls 10s, others £7 15s to £10; best hacks £lO to £l2, good 5 and 6-yr draughts £47 10s to £SO, aged draughts £2O to £26 ss, medium draughts from £lO, good express horses £l9 to £23 10s, others £ll 5s to £ls 10s, aged hacks £1 15s to £4 15s. On account of Messrs Tully Bros., a 4-year-old draught mare sold at £49, yearling draught £l6 to £l6 10s, good hacks £lB to £22, others £5 10s to £lO, yearling hack filly £5 10s to £7. WELLINGTON WOOL AND SKIN SALES. Messrs Dalgety and Co., Ltd., report : —We held our fortnightly sale of wool, skins, hides and tallow, on Friday afternoon. We offered a large catalogue to a keen lot of buyers, and good prices were realized. Only bag lots of wool were offered, which comprised chiefly locks and pieces. We quote as follows: — Wool: The market was a little easier in sympathy with the closing rates of the January sales in London for medium and coarse crossbreds. Crossbreds 8d to 9£d, lambs 9d to 9£d, crutchings 5d to 6d, pieces s£d to 6d, bellies 7|d to Bd, locks 4d. Skins: Prices were on a par with last sale rates. We quote:—Crossbred 9d to 9|d, crossbred shorts B£d to Bgd, dead and broken 6|d to 7sd, lambs 9d to 9Jd, pelts (good) 3s 5d to 3s lOd, green 8s 6d, lambs (green) 3s lOd, salted pelts 3s sd, salted lamb's pelts Is 9d. Hides: We offered some nice lines of prime quality, and quote, as follows: —Prime ox (65 to 701b5,) 6£d to 6fd, medium (60 to 651bs), 6Jd to 6|d, light (50 to 591bs) 6|d; cows medium (46 to 57lbs) 6§d to 6Jd, light s|d to 6d, calf 6Jd to B|d. Tallow : In shipping order, £26 15s per ton, in tins 20s 3d per cwt, Messrs Levin and Co., Ltd., report as follows:- We held our usual fortnightly sale on Friday, offering a quantity of wool, 2,800 skins, 500 hides and a quantity of tallow and horsehair. Wool: Only fadges and bag wool were offered. Prices were somewhat • easier. We ; quote:— Coarse crossbred (in bags arid fadges) 9d to 9Jd, rough and inferior 8d to 9d, Pieces and bellies 6d to 6|d, locks 3Jd to 4£d. Skins: Market was hardly up to last sale, rates, \ and prices may be quoted at £d lower. We quote:—Merinos 7£d to B£d, fine croasbreds 9d to # 9Jd, coarse crossbreds Bfd to 9Jd, dead skins 6|d to 7|d, dead hoggets 6fd to &7£d, dry pelts 7d to Bid,lamb skins 8d to 9Jd, green lamb skins 3s to 3s Bd, green pelts 3s to 3s 6d, lamb pelts Is 6d to Is 9d. Tallow: Parcels in shipping order £25 ss, tins £l7 17s to £2l, rough fat £l7. Horsehair: Is to Is 6d per lb. Horns: 13s to 16s 3d per 100. Hides: There was a large entry of good hides, and a full attendance of buyers, who cleared all lots at full rates. We quote:—Ox hides (extra heavy) 6£d to 6gd, ox hides (70lbs and over) 6Jd to 6f d, ox hides (501bs to 701bs) 6Jd to 6£d, cow hides s|d to 6£d, calf skins (best) 6Jd to 7Jd, calf skins (slippy) 3d to 4d, calf skins (cut) 5d to s£d, cut and slippy hides 5d to 6d, stag hides 4d to 4Jd, bull hides 3£d to 4|d. The next sale will be held on Friday, February 15th, 1907.
