AFFAIRS AT KINGSTON.
ALLEGATIONS AGAINST GOVERNMENT OFFICIALS. Received January 31, 8.44 a.m. LONDON, January 30. Reuter's agent at Kingston, the centre of the recent disaster in Jamaica, states that at a meeting held under the auspices of the Kingston Merchants' Exchange, a resolution was passed declaring that the Government officials were out of touch with the community and unable to cope with the situation." The Globe states that the resignation of Sir J. A. Swettenham, Governor of Jamaica, has been accepted. The resignation, it adds, was due to facts coming to light of which he was not told and of which he ought to have been told.
