WAIRARAPA AMATEUR ATHLETIC CLUB.
ANNUAL MEETING. The' Wairarapa Amateur Athletic Club held their annual sports meeting ' on the Park Oval, yesterday, in beautiful weather. The attendance was large, and the afternoon's sport passed off in a pleasant manner. The fields were in most cases large and competition was keen. ,-; The, times registered during the day were good. The first heat of the 100 Yards Handicap was won by H. Henderson, from scratch, in lOsec, the standard time being 10 l-ssec. J. Bradbury's performance in the One Mile Run was also a good one. Starting from scratch, he did the distance in 4min 30sec. The same competitor won the Two Miles Open Handicap in lOmin 24 2-ssec. The j Club Championship (120 yards) was won by* F. L. Winter in 12 4-ssec. The meeting was admirably conducted, and the greatest credit is due to those responsible. Mr V. G. Darrock, the club's popular secretary, had all the arrangements complete, and he was ably assisted by an energetic body of stewards. The Masterton Municipal Brass Band, were present during the afternoon, and rendered a number of items. The various events resulted as follow: — 100 Yards Maiden Race.—First heat: C. Kempton 1, L.
