WELLINGTON HIDE AND SKIN SALES. Messrs Dalgety and Co., Ltd , report as follows:—Owing to the wool sale taking place on the 18th instant, , only green skins and hides were offered at our sale on Thursday. IJides—Market firm, with slightly upward tendency. We quote—Medium ox 6|d to 6|d, light 6d to 6£d, slippy ox s£d, cows 6d to 6£d, light -5Jd to sld. Calfskins, best, 7d to 7Jd; medium, 6Jd to 6|d, cut and slippy s£d to sgd, goat skins Is lid; horse hides, lis. ABRAHAM AND WILLIAMS. We offered 1,266 bales. Most of the wool was in heavy condition, and prices for inferior and dingy wool were £d to Jd lower, while the brighter wools were Jd higher than last sales. Very little superior lambs' wool was offered, but anything of this class was keenly competed for. We topped the market with a line from Palmerston North at Is per lb. LONDON MARKETS. Messrs Dalgety and Company, Ltd., Wellington, have received tlae following cables from London, dated the 17th instant:—Butter—Market weak. The Copenhagen official quotation is lower by 4 kroner (about 4s 6d per cwt). Utmost value 100s. The total imports of butter into the United Kingdom for the week ended the 12th instant amounted to 101,000 cwt, as compared with 81,000 cwt ' for the corresponding week of 1906.' Frozen Meat— Australian lamb, prime, 32-401bs, lower by &d; mutton, ■ light weights, prices are firm, but for heavy are a shade easier. Beef market weak, but prices are not quotably changed. Tallow — Prices for all sorts are unchanged. There is less disposition to dp business at previous rates, possibly temporary, but speculators are doing all they can to spoil market.
