WAIRARAPA CALEDONIAN SOCIETY.
A general meeting of the Directors of the Wairarapa Caledonian Society was held on Saturday afternoon, Mr J. H. Pauling presiding. It was decided that the" Amateur Athletic Association should be allowed the use of ticket boxes and hurdles on payment of £1 10s, and that the Association be responsible for any damage done to them. The St. Patrick's Day Sports . Association also applied for the use of the dancing stage, flags, competitors' numbers, ticket boxes, tent, tapes, and other material for their sports on St. Patrick's Day; The Directors decided to lend the material asked for at a charge of £5. Messrs G. Morrison and W. Gregory, who tied for first place in the tree-felling' competition, and were equally entitled to the medal presented by Mr J. Cross in this event, asked that the Society add an extra medal, as'both were equally entitled to it. It was decided to advise Messrs Morrison and Gregory that they must themselves decide as to the possession of the medal, as the Directors could not see their way to furnish another medal. The Secretary of the New Zealand Axemen's Association wrote stating that Gregory's - claim for a 'New Zealand record could hot be entertained, as the blocks were not the correct size. The letter was received. Mr D. Munro wrote declining to accept his expenses in connection with his services as judge and conveying his best wishes for the Society's success. The Secretary was instructed to write to Mr Munro thanking him for his.action. ■ Miss Lynn Mills, Madame Groome and Mr F. Carr wrote thanking the Directors for the courtesy extended to them in connection with the. Society's concert. MrC. A. Tabuteau wrote in explanation of his action in returning, his member's ticket and enclosing subscription for the year. . A letter was received from Mr A. W.' Hogg,' M.H.R., thanking the Society for complimentary tickets, and conveying the season's greetin £ s - „ « Messrs Donald McKenzie, R. O. Smith, A. L. Donaldson, W. McLean, Stanley Johnston,—McMillan and'R. Mclnnis were elected members of the Society. , The sum of two guineas was voted to Mr D. Jackson in appreciation of' the services, rendered by' him to the Society. ; The President's report on the * sports and concert was read and adopted. The following financial statement was presented by the Secretary:—Cr. balance at bank October Ist, 1906, £3B Is 2d; receipts to date, £45"9 9s; expenditure to date, £391 9s 9d; credit, £lO6 0s sd; plus cheques un- , presented, £6l 7s; >cr. balance as per pass book, £167 7s sd. Accounts'amounting to £134,9s lOd were passed for payment. The Secretary was instructed to write to Mr F. Hunn* acknowledging the efficient manner in which he had ' managed the Society's concert. i -The Secretary was granted a bonus of" £5 5s in connection with i the concert.
